Daddy, wait, I didn't get love!

As I hurried out the door this morning in the freezing cold, I almost get to my car when I hear this little voice, standing in the front doorway.

"Daddy, wait, I didn't get love!" He then gives me that ear-to-ear smile and sounds off a tune on his harmonica. Who can resist such a call!

Man, I love my kiddos.

I wonder how many times we rush off in our mornings and ignore God's voice. "Wait, I didn't get any love".

The Day After ... Here I Am

Its around 35 degrees right now. I'm sitting in "Will's Stand", a deer stand named after my son who helped us put it together. A guy must really love hunting to sit out here in the cold, especially without seeing any deer so many times. That's why we call it hunting, and not "shooting", my Dad always says.

Someone must have finally decided to take advantage of all the ducks we've been hearing ... There is an ongoing barrage of shotgun fire (3 fast shots as I typed that) going off in the distance. A squirrel is bouncing around me in a tree 10 feet away, seemingly oblivious to my presence. A flock of geese just zoomed right over the tree line in front of me. (pause to look around).

My wife and kids are probably in the bed or just waking up, warm and cozy. I'll be there in a couple of hours, hopefully with a great story and a big deer.

And unlike my hunts less than a decade ago, I have this connection while I'm in the woods ... to you. My how technology has changed!

So as I sit quietly, peck a few words, stop and watch a while, and peck a few more words, I am thinking about how grateful I am to be a voice for God online, to you, my friends.

THANKS. Thanks for being a part of my life, even though most of you are invisible readers and lurkers that I will probably never meet.

God bless u tons..

For the Kingdom,
Fred

Yes, I live on a luxury, beautiful island called St. Simons Island. But here's my roots - pecan trees, deer stands, tractors, bass, catfish, and deer. And YES, I can indeed "skin a buck and run a trot line", as the song says.

I'm enjoying a couple of days back in Telfair County, GA - home of the world record largemouth bass, the state record Boone and Crocket deer, and my home ... Preparing our hunting club for this year's deer season. This trip I'm honored to have my second-born son Will with me.
